“Matte” About You: ColourPop Review

Matte liquid lipsticks are pretty much taking over the beauty community. It seems like every time you turn around another company is coming out with their own line vying for a spot in this market. ColourPop instantly stood out to me in the crowd. I had watched a few reviews on YouTube and I was drawn in by the company’s colour selection, price ($6.00 each), and simply just by how cute their packaging and website is. This formula dries really quickly into a comfortable matte feeling on your lips. It also lasts a long time and won’t smudge or transfer (as long as you apply it properly on dry lips).

Here are swatches of the 5 colours that I own from first to last: Clueless, Lumiere 2, Trap, Beeper & Teeny Tiny.

Clueless (Dusty Mauve Pink)

Lumiere 2 (Dark Dusty Mauve)

Trap (Greyish Beige – or “Greige”)
Beeper (Mid Tone Taupe/ Slight Orange Tint)
Teeny Tiny (Deep Grey-Plum)

I would recommend ordering these if you want to try the matte lip trend but don’t want to spend a ton of money. I honestly can’t pick a favourite out of these 5 colours & I will definitely be buying more shades for the Fall!

Have you tried these or do you have your own review? Let me know!

Getting Naked

I’ll admit, I am not a professional make-up artist by any means possible. I’ve learned the majority of what I know make-up wise from beauty gurus on YouTube. In particular eye shadow has always been difficult for me because I get nervous to use dark shades in fear that I will look like a serial killer. However, when I saw this palette at Sephora I knew that I would love it.

This is the Naked3 by Urban Decay. It has 12 rose-gold/mauve based shadows and comes with a duo sided brush and a full size mirror. I use this palette nearly every day because it’s perfect for a natural day time look but can be transformed into a darker night time look. My favourite shades to use are Limit, Buzz, Trick and Nooner. Other than the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, this is the only other palette from the line that I’ve tried. I’m interested in trying the Naked 1 and Naked 2 palettes as well. Which one’s are your favourite?

These are a few of my favourite makeup products. As much as I love walking out of Sephora with a big bag of new stuff to try (my wallet doesn’t appreciate it) I find that I always come back to a few that I’ve been using for years.
